Getting your ring size right matters more than most people expect - too tight and it won't go past the knuckle, too loose and it can slip off. This guide walks you through measuring your size at home, and includes a full UK, US and EU conversion chart below.
How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home
You don't need a ring sizer to get a good estimate. Two reliable methods:
Method 1: Measure a Ring That Already Fits
- Choose a ring you already own that fits the intended finger well.
- Measure the inside diameter - straight across the inner edge, not around the outside.
- Compare that measurement in millimetres against the chart below to find your UK size.
Method 2: The String or Paper Strip Method
- Wrap a thin strip of paper or string snugly around the base of your finger.
- Mark the point where it overlaps.
- Measure the length in millimetres with a ruler - this gives you your finger's circumference.
- Match that measurement against the circumference column in the chart below.

Note: small variations exist between ring size charts worldwide. If you're ever unsure, the millimetre diameter or circumference measurement is the most reliable figure to work from - not the letter or number label.
Tips for an Accurate Measurement
- Measure when your hands are warm. Cold fingers shrink slightly and can throw off your result - avoid measuring right after being outside in cold weather.
- Measure later in the day. Fingers are typically at their largest in the afternoon/evening rather than first thing in the morning.
- Size up for wider bands. If your ring has a band wider than around 6mm, we recommend going up half a size, as wider bands fit more snugly.
- Between sizes? If you measure as a half size, we generally recommend rounding up to the next full size for comfort.

Do UK ring sizes differ from US and EU sizes?
Yes. The UK uses a letter-based system (A to Z), the US uses a numbered system, and most of Europe uses a numeric system based on inside circumference in millimetres. Use the chart above to convert between them, or rely on the millimetre measurement, which is universal across all systems.
Should I measure my dominant hand or non-dominant hand?
Hand size can differ slightly between your left and right hand, so always measure the specific finger on the specific hand you intend to wear the ring on.
