Pearl
Organic Luxury • Lustre & Purity
The world's primary organic gemstone, formed when shelled molluscs secrete concentric layers of nacre (aragonite calcium carbonate and conchiolin) around an irritant.
Historical Significance
Treasured across ancient Rome and China as the tears of the gods. Cultured pearls, pioneered by Kokichi Mikimoto, transformed their availability worldwide.

Alexandrite
Emerald by Day • Ruby by Night
A phenomenal variety of chrysoberyl exhibiting dramatic colour change — appearing cool green/teal in daylight and shifting to purplish red under incandescent light.
Historical Significance
Discovered in Russia's Ural Mountains in 1830, on the birthday of Tsar Alexander II, its colours were said to match the imperial military colours of Russia.

Moonstone
Celestial Sheen • Adularescence
A sodium potassium aluminium silicate feldspar that displays an ethereal, floating light effect (adularescence), caused by light scattering between microscopic orthoclase and albite layers.
Historical Significance
Ancient Romans believed moonstones were formed from solidified rays of moonlight. The gem later became popular in Art Nouveau jewellery by René Lalique.

Deeply connected to lunar cycles and emotional balance, moonstone has traditionally served as a protective talisman for nighttime travellers and sea wanderers. Fine Sri Lankan moonstones showing vivid electric-blue adularescence on a clear body are the most prized.
Care & Maintenance
- Pearl care: follow the "last on, first off" rule. Perfumes, cosmetics, hairspray and sweat degrade nacre over time. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and never submerge in chemicals, acids or ultrasonic cleaners. Restring pearl strands periodically.
- Alexandrite care: highly durable for daily ring wear. Cleans safely with warm soapy water, mild detergents, or ultrasonic and steam cleaners.
- Moonstone care: has two-direction cleavage, so protect against direct impact and sharp drops. Clean gently with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and avoid ultrasonic or thermal-shock cleaners.
